In the building materials industry, sodium lignosulfonate is a classic high-efficiency water reducer for concrete. When mixed into the concrete mix, it disperses cement particles, releases encapsulated moisture, significantly reduces mixing water consumption, and improves the flowability, density, and impermeability of concrete without compromising its strength, thereby reducing cement usage and lowering project costs. It can also be used as an additive in gypsum board, putty powder, and dry-mix mortar, improving material workability, enhancing the flatness of building material forming and curing stability, and eliminating cracking and powder formation.

Agriculture is one of its core application scenarios. Sodium lignosulfonate can be used as a pesticide dispersant, suspending agent, and wetting agent, and is used in pesticides, herbicides, foliar fertilizers, and other agricultural products.
